After attending WCO 2018, and hearing what Tony and Jason had to say about the spot where the stadium once stood, it got me to thinking about what their next move could be. I'm writing this based solely on what I think could happen and not what will actually happen.
First off, its been rumored for years but I believe after this year, Wicked Twister will finally be removed. Whether it will be sent to one of the other CF parks or not is another story. I could see them moving the Big Wheel, Tiki Twirl and Troika elsewhere (not sure where just yet) and finally giving Kiddie Kingdom a full reboot. Hopefully they don't move the bumper cars AGAIN. That said, the concept art seen awhile back could be a good start, even though it wasn't official from CP or anything like that. I think what is going to happen is the they will move the Camp Snoopy rides to the front part, completely re-invent Kiddie Kingdom as Planet Snoopy and then that opens up the back area for further expansion.
By doing that, you now have the Camp Snoopy land available as well as the land where Dinosaurs Alive currently sits and the area near Frontier Fling. That's a pretty big tract of land that you could use for a GCI, B&M Flyer or something bigger and badder. It would be really neat to see something interact with the back half of Millennium Force. It'll be hard to follow up Steel Vengeance, but I could see them doing one of those things as there isn't much the park lacks anymore in terms of coasters. I can't see Dinosaurs Alive being around much longer, as KI's already closed and others are rumored to be on the chopping block. And let's face it, when I go in there to take pictures, nobody is ever back there except maybe two or three people. Last year, they moved Frontier Fling from its old position near the water park to the old Shoot the Rapids site. That said, I barely saw anybody on it in my 15+ trips last summer. I think its been a colossal failure and if they need to remove it to make more room for a new coaster or attraction, by all means do it.
Finally, I could see a continued push to make the park(s) into a resort. This has been the ongoing marketing strategy and it is a good one. With the opening of the indoor sports complex as well as new and continued perks for staying on-resort, I feel like that will be their push for years to come.
I could be spot-on or more likely, way off, but it was something that popped into my head recently and I wanted to throw it out there. Feel free to let me know what you think. Maybe you have better ideas than I do.
